Marks & Spencer, Bradford – Automated Warehouse

This project consisted of the fit out of the existing distribution centre to incorporate a new food and general merchandising operation to retail stores and e-commerce market. Multi-tier mezzanines were installed throughout, increasing the operational footprint of the facility to provide storage and picking processes.

MBA were involved from concept to completion to ensure that all of the building services requirements were fully integrated with the automation equipment which incorporated conveyors and shuttle systems.

Ancillary areas of the facility were also developed as part of the scheme, including the fit out of the office building, waste compactor and MHE charging areas.

The office areas were designed with passive ventilation and cooling systems to provide a very efficient solution for Marks & Spencer who strive to improve energy performance throughout their business as part of the ‘Plan A’ initiative. The final office environment that was achieved is one of the most impressive installation[s] we have been involved with.
